If you’re a fan of top-down space shooters along the same vein as Asteroids, you’re going to want to take a look at Captain Forever Remix. An expanded version of the original 2009 title, Captain Forever, players enter the cockpit as the titular captain on a quest to stop her stupid mutant younger brother who is ruining EVERYTHING!
Captain Forever Remix is a rogue-like shooter in which players explore the solar system and take on a variety of randomly-generated spaceships. Once an enemy ship is destroyed, players can use the mouse to click and drag salvaged parts onto their own ship, thereby enhancing their own firepower, speed and other abilities.
So, the game is a “remix,” but what does that actually mean? Since the original release, developer Pixelsaurus Games has added a variety of new features to the game. These included special bonuses for players to earn, brand-new ship parts and abilities, plus the chance to come across and fight extra strong Bounty Hunters. The game’s art style has also been overhauled, featuring artwork that harkens back to the kinds of weird cartoons that those of us that grew up in the 90s will be all too familiar with.
If all of this sounds pretty great to you, be sure to head on over to the game’s webpage and pre-order for 50% off the normal price at $9.99. However, this deal is only valid until Captain Forever Remix releases on Early Access next Friday, March 27.
