With Halloween drawing very near, Costume Quest 2 is about to land on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. On Tuesday, October 28th, the game will arrive on North American systems for some Halloween fun with an exclusive bonus. This bonus is a new costume to wear in-game and use in battles. It is the Sackboy costume! You can see it in the image below and in a trailer further down the page. The game’s website says this bonus content will be released in a free update after launch. The game originally launched on PC earlier this month via Steam.
Costume Quest 2, like the original Costume Quest, is a very charming and fun little game. You control a small group of kids who set out to save Halloween from an evil dentist bent on getting rid of it. Using the power of your many magical Halloween costumes, you will battle many foes. Each costume has a special ability you can use in battle to knock some sense into your foes. Usually a costume is unlocked once you have the blueprint for it, and all four of the materials needed to make it.
As with the original game, you will once again find yourself trick-or-treating and fighting baddies. This time, though, you will also travel through time to a horrible future where costumes and candy are illegal and Halloween is no more! The town is full of dental security drones enforcing the law, but with the help of your costumes, you can get rid of these annoying buckets of bolts as you work toward saving Halloween.
It’s quite fitting for the game to be arriving just in time for Halloween. The game is $15 on Steam, so the PS3/PS4 version will likely be around $15 also. It’s a cheap game with plenty of charm, a quirky story and some catchy music, just like the original. Having played it myself, I can say that it is a very enjoyable little game, as was the original.
