It was a better week in the Media Create charts. A good deal of it can be traced to the release of Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso and Honke versions, which combined for 1.3 million units sold. The game also drove sales for the 3DS, bumping the console up about 34,000 units from last week.
The other good news from this week comes from the Vita jumping about 20,000 units from last week. Now, if you take the numbers at face value, you’d think it was an anomaly or a mistake since it actually outsold all the Vita games on the list. However, the reason for the is rise is that there was a Super Value Pack that was released last week. It included a 2000 series Vita (which is the version with the LCD display instead of the OLED), pouch, USB cable, screen protector, and an 8 GB memory card with some Free-to-play software pre-installed. The software included is Destiny of Spirits: Asia, Magica Wars Zanbatsu, No Puzzles Either, Rebellion Run: Dash or Capture, the Yakuza Restoration! App, and the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd demo. The bundle costs ¥18,980.
There is also going to be a 1000 series Vita (the OLED version) Super Value Pack release coming in a couple of weeks. It will have the same features and cost ¥19,980.
Meanwhile, the Wii U continues to fall after its Mario Kart 8 bump, dropping 1,000 units and going further below the 10,000 unit mark. This is also the first week since MK8’s release that the Wii U didn’t better last year’s weekly numbers, falling behind by 13,500 units. If you’re wondering what happened last year, it was the release week for New Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3.
As for software, there isn’t much to talk about. Other than Yo-kai Watch 2, the only new SKU in the Top 20 is God Eater 2 (PlayStation Vita the Best), which I’m assuming is a budget version of God Eater 2 with all the updates (let me know if I got that wrong and I’ll update this). Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment both return to the Top 20. And Freedom Wars passed the 250,000 mark.
