The story centers around class 1-7 of Tennogofune Academy, where all the students with “bad karma” or misfortune seem to have been gathered. Hibari, a student in this class, meets the unlucky Hanako and the perennially unhealthy Botan on her first day of school, and together they try to find a way to turn their school life into a happy one.
The original manga was written by Cotoji. It was first published by Houbunsha in their Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine in December 2012. It currently has 4 volumes published. Yen Press has licensed the manga for release in North America under the title Unhappy Go Lucky! and is planning to release the 1st volume sometime in 2016.
The Unhappy TV anime is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2016. If you are interested in the anime at all please check out their official Twitter account HERE or official website HERE.
