The hype train is definitely going strong for Studio BONES’ and Shinichiro Watanabe’s Space Dandy. Not only is the upcoming series being created by the same talented individuals who created shows like Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist, but it’s also premiering in the United States a day before it makes its first appearance in Japan. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, it’s going to be fully dubbed to boot.
Toonami recently released a new commercial for the series, which you can watch below. The ad also mentions that Naruto: Shippuden will be added to the schedule that same night.
Thanks to user Toonami Swim for uploading the video.
Space Dandy will air on Toonami at 11:30 PM EST on Saturday, January 4th. Animax Asia will also be showing the series, simulcasting it alongside its Japanese premiere on January 5th. Can’t catch the premiere on Toonami or Animax Asia? If you’re in the Vegas area and lucky enough to be attending Otakon this weekend, then you might be able to catch their showing of the first episode. Funimation will also be streaming the series online.
For those of you who reside outside of the United States, Madman Entertainment will be simulcasting the series in Australia and New Zealand as it releases in Japan through the Madman Screening Room. There is no news yet on whether Cartoon Network Canada has plans for the show.
In case this is your first time hearing about it: Space Dandy is the story of a man named Dandy, an alien hunter who seeks out new species of interstellar life in exchange for a reward. Dandy traverses the universe with a robot named QT and an alien named Meow, no doubt getting into plenty of trouble along the way. See the gallery below for a look at the cast.
