Though originally confirmed to have multiple costumes from Tales of Vesperia, fans wondered just how to actually acquire them in the new HD Tales remake, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Though it was possible that these costumes may have been DLC originally, a Famitsu report shows that it isn’t the case anymore, as the costumes have two ways to be unlocked with no extra cash required.
The outfits that players can receive are based off of Judith and Rita from the Vesperia title. Players can acquire them by either beating the game and unlocking New Game+ Mode, or using saved data from Tales of Vesperia on their PS3 to unlock them right away.
Though it is unfortunate for western fans in that they will unlikely be able to use the second option, as Tales of Vesperia only made it to the Xbox 360 in the West, there is a possibility that such a feature can still make it here when Tales of Symphonia Chronicles gets localized.
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is a PS3 exclusive, and will be on Japanese store shelves on October 10. Though it did not get a confirmed release date, Western regions will be able to get their hands on this new Tales title in 2014.
