If you’re a PlayStation Plus member, and you’ve yet to pick up Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, you’re in luck! Chunsoft’s visual novel adventure game is now free for those who have a PlayStation Plus membership in North America. It was already announced earlier this year that the game would be available free of charge to those in Europe and Australia.
Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, available on PS Vita and 3DS, is the spiritual sequel to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. It tells the story of nine individuals who are mysteriously kidnapped and forced to participate in the “Nonary Game: Ambidex Addition.” This involves forming teams to go through “chromatic doors”, where those who enter must solve a series of puzzles in order to escape. The other piece of the Nonary Game involves what is essentially a real-life version of the prisoner’s dilemma, where players much choose whether to “betray” or “ally” with each other.
If you like visual novels, puzzlers, mysteries, or just anything that is pretty darn interesting and unique, then definitely check out Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. If you’re still not convinced, check out Operation Rainfall’s review, and, if you don’t have a PlayStation Plus membership, don’t fret. You can still purchase the game on Vita or 3DS, or play the game’s predecessor, 999 on DS or soon on iOS.
