IGN just released the trailer for the newly announced Sonic Lost World. This trailer reveals that the six silhouetted figures from the picture SEGA teased are going to be the villains of this new game, while Sonic appears to be saving various critters that look highly reminiscent of the critters from the old Sonic games. In fact, a lot of the game so far seems to be taking inspiration from the old Genesis titles. The environments have a Green Hill Zone look to them, Sonic has that classic running animation that was in Sonic Generations and a couple of old sound effects, like enemies poofing upon being hit, are present.
That’s not to say that this is just going to be Sonic retreading his glory days. The trailer boasts that Sonic has some new moves, such as a wall-climbing/wall-running ability as well as a mid-air kick of some kind. The levels also take some inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy, though not quite to the same extent that Sonic Colors did.
More information about Sonic Lost World, like other features of the game and its release date, will likely be revealed at this year’s E3. This game will be available on the Wii U and the 3DS sometime later this year. Until then, you can watch the trailer below.
