Sega has launched a teaser site for their newest entry in the Shining series, Shining Arc on the PSP. The site looks like it will reveal more details of the game as it gets closer to release, and so far the 3 tabs available give tidbits of information including “Story”, “Friends”, and gameplay elements under the “System” heading. From the little bit of information available on the site, Shining Arc does not seem to have any relation to the Shining the Holy Ark game on Sega Saturn.
Shining Arc is set in the world of Arcadia. The story revolves around a young man named Freed, an orphan who washed ashore on the island. He’s being taken care of by Shannon, an Elf who becomes a sister like figure, as well as Zynga, a fisherman and warrior. The story picks up when Freed encounters Panis, a mysterious girl with one black wing.
The game currently has a Japanese release date of “Winter 2012”; hopefully a more finite release date will come in time. And as I’ve made painfully aware, the game might not ever be seen outside of Japan. Perhaps if Shining Arc gets some attention from longtime fans of the franchise, our chances of localization will increase. Until then, you can simply check out the teaser site below.
