Alpha Kimori™ Episode One

Alpha Kimori™ 1 Now Available To Over 75 Million Users.

After a five figure vote for it on Steam Greenlight, the Alpha Kimori 1 game inspired by the eastern Tao and Zen philosophy is set to launch on Steam on the 17th of March 2014 at http://store.steampowered.com/app/265870. It is the first Malaysian game and the first RPG Maker engine game to be launched after going through the grueling Steam Greenlight voting process. Steam is Valve’s digital software distribution channel famous for its Half Life flagship game and currently the hugely popular DOTA game with over 75 million players. It is no wonder critics were initially skeptical about the demand for a niche Japanese Role Playing Game, to be able to appeal to the hardcore gamers on Steam. The overwhelming support by international anime otaku and JRPG fans proved otherwise with Alpha Kimori being listed in over 50 collections selected by supporters on Steam Greenlight.

Alpha Kimori was no stranger to harsh criticism of it being made in RPG Maker, a Japanese made game engine that is famous for its ease of making RPGs with its library of ready made artwork and music. Nevertheless, Alpha Kimori was made with all custom made artwork, music and story throughout a 10-year history. In fact, Alpha Kimori is made by Sherman3D, the veteran indie game development team that contributed to popular game titles such as Scribblenauts, Moshi Monsters and Aveyond. Sherman Chin, founder of Sherman3D and creator of Alpha Kimori, spoke at Casual Connect Asia 2013 on the philosophy behind Alpha Kimori and emphasized on the tremendous effort and passion it took for his international team to create Alpha Kimori.

From an underdog, Alpha Kimori became the first commercial game to be sold by Degica, the official Japanese caretaker of the RPG Maker brand. At the Tokyo Game Show in 2012, Alpha Kimori was showcased as a tribute to Japanese role playing games with a visit by Enterbrain, the company that created the RPG Maker engine. Alpha Kimori was subsequently translated into Japanese by Hiroko Omori and is to be released by Big Fish Games and Playism in Japan. Alpha Kimori is one of the top ten RPGs on Big Fish Games and is reviewed by Gamezebo as an excellent, thought-provoking RPG. The Alpha Kimori brand has been licensed for an Apple iOS game spinoff, as well as, for an animation series.
