This is going to be another short and sweet Nintendo Download, I’m afraid. There are no sales to speak of nor big events but there are still some nice games to discuss. On that topic, there’s a certain squidtastic title releasing for the Switch tomorrow!

Splatoon 2 | Splash

Yes, everyone’s favorite ink splatting multiplayer game is getting a sequel tomorrow in Splatoon 2 for the Switch! Alongside that heavily anticipated release is the release of the more controversial Nintendo Switch Online app, to assist in matchmaking and other Splatoon 2 services, including SplatNet 2. Though I’m not sure how I feel about the online component of the game, I am quite excited to get my tentacles on Splatoon 2. The first game was incredible fun and in many ways defied what could be expected from a Nintendo game. Here’s hoping the sequel is ready to make an even bigger splash! If you’re not in the mood for squid blasting mayhem, you might be more interested in the release of Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star for the Switch. Help annihilate enemy forces with intense combat and new mechanics such as changing forms during battle. I personally am not that familiar with the series, but the art style looks great and it might just be worth picking up.

Besides those, there are also a handful of digital games that might strike your fancy starting this week. For the Switch, the latest ACA NEOGEO title, Samurai Showdown, is now available. Play one of 12 swordmasters in feudal combat with great classic style. If you’re feeling more inclined to relax, Eba & Egg: A Hatch Trip looks interesting. Control the characters simultaneously or individually as you try and guide them to safety. Lastly and perhaps most interesting of all is Boost Beast. It looks like a mixture of tower defense and match 3 games with vivid colorful cartoon sprites. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s even a zombie infection thrown in for good measure. That’s just strange enough to merit a look on my Switch.

And that’s all for this week! I meant it when I said this one was gonna be short, sadly. But on the plus side, you can use your extra gaming time to fire up Splatoon 2 this weekend! Make sure to join us next Thursday for more Nintendo Download goodies, courtesy of oprainfall.
