I apologize again for how late the Nintendo Download is today. For the remainder of the Summer, I would anticipate it’s going to go out mid afternoon instead of early in the morning. Not that I love the sun, but it does provide opportunities to go out shopping for games, which is nice. That aside, there are some great games to discuss in this week’s Download! Let’s see what’s worth playing.

Nintendo Download | GoNNER

First up, the very cool looking, procedurally generated GoNNER is making the Switch (see what I did there?) to Nintendo’s latest console. Help Ikk keep his whale friend happy by finding a trinket for it while slaying hordes of randomized foes! If I hadn’t just picked GoNNER up on the Steam Summer Sale, you can bet I would get it for my Switch, as it looks utterly delightful. If you’re more ready for some retro games, then you might want to check out the following Virtual Console titles. Firstly, Bonk 3: Bonk’s Big Adventure is making its way to the Wii U. Relive this classic TurboGrafx-16 platformer on the big screen. The other Virtual Console game is Devil’s Crush. It’s a basic pinball game with very ominous graphics. Not bad if you need a simple time waster.

Nothing strange to see here, moving on.

If you’re looking for more to do in Hyrule, Zelda: Breath of the Wild has its first expansion, Master Trials, starting tomorrow. Read below for some of the details. I’m sure it will provide lots of new fun for me once I actually beat the game…

More adventures await in the Master Trials pack, available June 30. By completing the Trial of the Sword challenge, Link will prove that he has grown worthy, and the Master Sword will be awakened to always be in its glowing, powered-up state while usable. Master Mode ups the challenge, Hero’s Path mode tracks 200 hours of footsteps on the map, the Travel Medallion creates a warp point, eight new armor items offer unique effects, and the Korok Mask helps locate Koroks. This content can only be obtained by purchasing the $19.99 Expansion Pass, which also includes The Champion’s Ballad, the second DLC Pack that will be available this holiday season.

Zelda BotW Expansion

For sales, all that I could see on discount was Snake Pass, which is 40% off on Nintendo Switch until July 4th. There’s more available from My Nintendo, however. Since Hey! PIKMIN is coming to the Nintendo 3DS July 28th, they are offering both a Pikmin Short Movie for 3DS and Wii U as well as a Hey! PIKMIN wallpaper, shown below.

Hey Pikmin Wallpaper

If that wasn’t enough for you My Nintendo users, starting July 1st they are offering 40% discounts on a variety of games. I will only list those I find best, but take a look at what those are below –

Donkey Kong Country Returns (3DS); Pocket Card Jockey (3DS); Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii U); Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U) and Super Paper Mario (Wii U).

See? It’s basically Bust A Move with more anime characters…

Last but not least, there are couple noteworthy digital games out today. The ACA NEOGEO series threw a curveball and instead of an action or fighting game, released what appears to be a puzzle game called Magical Drop II. While it looks suspiciously similar to Bust A Move, it nevertheless looks fun. The other game is actually for the 3DS and is also of the puzzle family. 6180 the Moon makes use of both the upper and lower screens to offer a unique and challenging puzzle platformer. Both look great, if you’re interested in the genre.

That’s it for this week! I’ll try and be a bit earlier with the Nintendo Download next time. Stay tuned to oprainfall for more Nintendo games worth playing.
