ARMS

ARMS

Nintendo blew the lid of its latest IP ARMS in its latest Direct presentation, and there was a lot to get a hold of for the upcoming fighting game. First off, the starting roster has been filled out with snakeboarding live-streamer Kid Cobra, robotic crime-fighting duo Byte and Barq, and silver screen diva Twintelle. This brings the roster up to ten starting fighters, along with the various ARMS you can equip with each, leading to thousands of different combinations. There’s also a boss character teased.

New modes were also revealed, including a Grand Prix mode that can be played solo or co-op. Various versus mode include 1-on-1, 2-on-2, a volleyball style mode called V-Ball, a Hoops mode which requires you to dunk your opponent, and a 1-on-100 horde-style mode. Online modes allow you to play all the above modes with friends or random opponents, you can group up with a friend on the same system and play online, you can get serious with ranked modes, or pair various Switch systems for even more combinations.

Finally, ARMS will be taking a page from Splatoon’s playbook by offering post launch updates that will add more fighters, levels and ARM weapons. Not only that, Nintendo has released a Global Testpunch demo that will allow players to try the game online at various dates and times leading up to the release of the game. This is definitely a much more fleshed out title than what was demoed back in January, and it looks like Nintendo will be pulling out all the stops for it.
