Viz Media and entrepreneur Bernard Chong have invested in the anime-focused social media website, Kitsu. Two members of Viz will have roles in the website: Rob Pereyda (VP of Business Development) will act as Senior Advisor and Brad Woods (Chief Marketing Officer at Viz) will be on the site’s board.

Brad Woods had this to say about the announcement: “We’re thrilled to be working with Josh and the Kitsu team to bring this content to a wider audience. The features that are being rolled out with the new platform are really exciting, and we believe they will drive engagement for the anime industry as a whole.”

Furthermore, Josh Fabian, Founder and CEO of Kitsu, said, “What makes me most excited about where Kitsu is going is how easy it’s going to be to connect with other anime and manga fans. We’ve been very proactive and thoughtful about how exactly to approach the social component of anime, and we think what we have will continue to drive that conversation moving forward.”

Kitsu allows users to track anime and manga they are currently watching/reading. The website also allows users to rate titles and discuss them with other members.  The website is currently in public beta, but you can still make an account here.
