It’s really difficult being a gamer sometimes. We are incredibly passionate about the games we love, which exacerbates things when they have an extended development cycle. Worse yet is when a game gets crowdfunded on Kickstarter, as there are usually long inherent delays built in to the entire process, and that’s assuming a developer is forthright and hardworking. That wait can get intolerable sometimes, but it only means that we are fully invested in the product, and hopefully that translates to the finished product being worth the wait.

Which brings us to the latest Kickstarter update from Heart Forth, Alicia. The little magical Metroidvania that garnered such acclaim and praise, and which was originally slated to release in 2015, and later 2016, is now due out in mid 2017. Which of course is frustrating to its many fans. There is some good news though. Firstly, if you’re able to attend the PlayStation Experience 2016, you will be able to try out the shiny new demo for the game. This new demo will allow players to pick between a narrative or action heavy experience, both showcasing the game’s unique style.

The other good news? Heart Forth, Alicia is apparently 70% done already, which hopefully means it won’t be delayed any further past the new mid-2017 release window. According to the devs, the delay will allow more delicious cinematics and tighter more engaging gameplay. Either way, as a backer I am very excited about the release of this wonderful looking Metroidvania! Stay tuned to oprainfall for more details as they come out. And stall your impatience by looking at this sweet new video.
