Raving Rabbids

Raving Rabbids

Yes this is a rather bizarre rumor, right? According to sources at Ubisoft and Nintendo, the two are working on a Raving Rabbids and Super Mario crossover RPG. The game is said to be in development by Ubisoft and launching alongside the Nintendo Switch. According to these sources, the game is currently being developed under Nintendo’s close supervision. Its tentative title is Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids.

Nintendo wants to ensure that the game is ready by launch day and meets Nintendo’s internal quality standards. While the game’s focus is on the Mushroom Kingdom being invaded by Rabbids, some Rabbids are said to be friendly. The rumor also states that there will be a new form of Bowser. He will be based around the design of the rabbids and act as a recurring boss enemy. There will be cameos from a number of famous Mario characters. Additionally, your party will contain many minor characters, too. Yoshi will be one and so will a rabbid, as well.

According to the rumor, a playable demo will be ready for press to try out in January. It will have a quick-save feature ensuring you can save quickly if the battery on the Switch handheld is low.

“Part of the planned press demo includes the JoyCons vibrating to imply a Rabbid jumping into and out of them from the TV or handheld screen.”

The idea there is to imply that your Switch is infested with Raving Rabbids. They also want to imply that they could jump out of the controller at any moment and interfere with gameplay. By the way, if you’re unfamiliar, Joycons are the Switch’s controllers that attach to the sides. This unusual game is to be one of the major trailers shown when Nintendo fully reveals the Switch. You may recall that the Switch reveal is currently set to happen in January. It sounds like Nintendo will pitch the game as a Mario RPG project in collaboration with Ubisoft. It sounds like Ubisoft is doing the bulk of the work, though.
