Evo 2016

Evo 2016

Registration for Evo 2016 has come to an end, and the entry numbers for each of the nine featured games has been revealed. Coming in at number one is Street Fighter V with a grand total of 5,065 entrants, making it one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in history. Next off is a pair of Nintendo crossover fighters, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U bringing in 2,637 entrants, followed by Super Smash Bros. Melee at 2,350 entrants. It was previously revealed that these are the biggest Smash tournaments for their respective games. The last fighter to break over 1k entries is the sole newcomer at this year’s Evo, Pokken Tournament with 1,165.

As for the rest of the games, Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- has 903 entrants, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 grabbed 770, Mortal Kombat X grabbed 707, Tekken 7 sits at 543, and finally Killer Instinct is at 540. This year’s Evo will be one of the biggest yet, so it seems fitting all the games featured on Sunday will take place in an actual arena. Evo 2016 will stream live from July 15 to July 17.
