The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

For those that don’t know, the man pictured in the newspaper above is none other than Zelda Series Producer, Eiji Aonuma. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has taken the top spot as the most mentioned game on social media out of all the games at this year’s E3 (according to stats on NintendoInquirer). It is great to see a Wii U game shining so well, but Nintendo will need to step beyond the Wii U to really succeed in the future. Can The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild help carry the Nintendo NX to a successful launch and beyond? If any franchise can, it would be Zelda.

Though Nintendo’s new Zelda game may have the most attention on social media of any game out of E3 2016, if you look at the stats for the various conferences you see that Microsoft’s conference won on social media.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has earned an impressive amount of engagement and attention from gamers. Not surprisingly, it also dwarfed mentions of any other game Nintendo showed this year. Delaying the game again to launch simultaneously on both the Wii U and the NX may have been a wise move on Nintendo’s part. The Wii U didn’t have the best launch line up, and as far as launch lineups go, it doesn’t get much better than having a Zelda game in there if you are Nintendo.

I’m a Zelda nut myself, so I’m very much looking forward to this game. Sadly, we still have a long while to wait, but as always the wait will be more than worth it when the game finally comes out. I think that there is no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will easily be the best Zelda game to date. It also is the most delayed game in the series, since it has been delayed for a year twice now (beating out Twilight Princess which had one major delay). We’ll have to wait and see how things go with the NX launch next year, and how much Zelda boosts the console’s sales.

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
