Nintendo just dropped a lot of information for Pokémon Sun and Moon during their Treehouse Live segment which Josh has already covered but a new trailer show appeared in the tall grass and contains few new faces. The second half of the clip contains info about the 4 player free-for-all mode called ‘battle royal’ since you can read about that in the other article.
First we have a brand new pokémon named ‘grubbin’, a bug type that will most likely be the caterpie or weedle of the 7th generation. It will be interesting to see what two stronger and stronger forms it evolves into. It is shown to have the swarm ability and uses the mostly annoying move string shot to slow its enemies.
The second pokémon is not entirely new but this is the first time we’re seeing it in action. Magearna was first revealed in CoroCoro back in February and this legendary is now confirmed to be a steel/fairy type. It has the soul-heart ability and is shown using it’s unique move fleur cannon to take out a pangoro in the trailer.
These two pokémon join the other two Pipiek and Yungoos that were seen to be in the starting area shown in the demo this morning. It’s likely grubbin will join them somewhere near the beginning of the game based on its design. Magearna is a mythical/legendary so it’s unclear how it will fit into the game but they will probably be tied to the main plot or a side story in order to be captured.
With Nintendo focusing on just The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Sun and Moon officially for E3, it’s possible we might get some more information on the 7th generation gotta-catch-em-all games. And if we do we’ll be sure to let all of you know in a Unova minute.
