Yet another fascinating title has been announced during the E3 PC Gaming showcase with The Turing Test. The developer, Bulkhead Interactive, is working alongside the ever busy Square Enix Collective to make their vision a reality. This sci-fi puzzle game focuses around a group of astronauts traveling to Jupiter’s moon Europa to see if there’s any sign of alien life there. The title will have a linear story that can be enriched by finding ‘elements underneath [the narrative]’ that will change the meaning of everything you learn. It’s impressive that Bulkhead has worked with a few scientific advisors to give the game a more authentic feel around the concepts of space travel and extra-planetary lifeforms.
The gameplay is a first person platformer/puzzler which means it will always be compared to Portal. The comparison does seem pretty apt here as there are a series of sterile rooms with square panels, extending light bridges, and carry-able boxes. There are some scenes that show the exterior of the planet and of a NASA like rover. Hopefully these elements will be part of the game in order to shake things up a bit. The graphics look very pretty and the pace of the gameplay is quick and smooth. It’s not surprising that the game looks so polished since it releases in August of this year for the PC. In the trailer the devs said they wanted a game that was ‘functional yet beautiful’ and we’ll be here to tell you if that’s the case.
