Detroit: Become Human

Detroit | oprainfall

At Sony’s E3 conference, Quantic Dream showed off a new trailer for their upcoming title Detroit: Become Human. Androids take part in every day life, though it seems as though there are many people in the world untrustworthy of their inhumanity. Though the initial trailer and further information about this game focused on an android named Kara, this trailer focused on an android detective named Connor as he investigates a murder and engages in a tense standoff with another android named Daniel.

Detroit | Choices

As the trailer takes shape, it becomes quickly apparent that your actions, choices and observations have direct consequences on how the game plays out, carrying on in the tradition of Heavy Rain. It appears that, depending on how much the player investigates and observes their surroundings, the more details that can come into play by the end of the scenario. As you can see in the flowchart above, there are numerous different outcomes that can happen depending on how observant you were in your investigation, as well as how persuasive your actions and choices were in the final standoff. If you did all the right things, you should come out with a more positive ending. If you fail to make enough observations and make some foolish choices, well… just look below.

Detroit | Bad Time
This is what happens when you’re NOT observant enough.

If the rest of the game can keep up the tense vibe and mysterious nature of the plot as shown off here, it has the potential to stand out from its predecessors, provided that Quantic Dream has some more gameplay elements in store. There was no sign of Kara in this trailer, so it’ll be interesting to see where she’s gone as more developments unfold for Detroit: Become Human. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as they come.
