UPDATE: Contest has ended. Thanks to those who participated. We will be contacting the winners early next week.

As part as our Vote-to-Localize poll in partnership with Language Automation, Inc., an effort to get some unlocalized games localized,  we are having a contest! So spread the word and of course vote on the polls available on the front page if you haven’t!

What we are looking for are the number one fans of the games (or game series) for the titles we are trying to get localized. So, we’re looking for the number one Yakuza fan, the number one Valkyria Chronicles fan, the number one Shining fan, the number one Suikoden fan, and the number one Beyond the Labyrinth fan.

Prove to us that you are the number one fan! Send us a creative, amusing, or funny video, photo, fan art, poem, story—pretty much anything you can think of, as long as it can be sent to us via email. Please keep entries in good taste. Anything vulgar will not be considered for entry. Be creative, and be impressive!

If—and we must stress if—one or more of the games we’re trying to get localized are picked up by LAI for localization, then those lucky fans we pick as the number one fans for those games or series will get the chance to actually be involved in the localization process. Five people will get this chance, one winner for each game. Remember, there are no guarantees that any game will be localized, but it’s still an exciting possibility.

We’re also going to give an Amazon e-gift card (or PayPal credit) to each of our five grand prize winners. The top 10 runner-up entries will get an Operation Rainfall Collector’s Case.

The contest will begin on Friday, August 30th, 2013. All entries must be submitted by Friday, September 13th, 2013, 10:00 PM PDT. Winners will be revealed on Friday, September 20th, 2013.

Please submit all entries and questions regarding the contest to [email protected].

Five grand prize winners will receive the following:

  • The chance to help with the localization process
  • $40 e-gift card from Amazon or transfer via PayPal

  • One Operation Rainfall Collector’s Case

Rules

  1. US participants only. Only participants in the US are eligible to enter. This is due to the complexity of the localization process. We do apologize to our worldwide readership.
  2. You must be 13 years of age or older to participate.
  3. Participants may only enter ONE time for ONE prize. You may not submit multiple entries for other games. Once an entry is submitted, it is final.
  4. Winners will be determined by oprainfall staff.
  5. Grand prize winners may also receive a Collector’s Case along with the other prizes if they ask for one.
  6. There is no guarantee that any of the games on the polls will be localized and therefore no guarantee that grand prize winners will be involved with the localization process.
  7. Details on how the Number One Fan winners will be involved in the localization process will be determined by Language Automation, Inc., at a later date, provided the winners’ chosen games get localized.
  8. LAI has final say on all things involved with the localization prize. Ultimately, they may decide a winner is not eligible to participate due to various possible reasons, such as incapability. oprainfall and LAI offer no guarantees. This is why we are offering the $40 prize along with the localization prize in case the winner is unable to participate.
  9. Anybody who volunteers for oprainfall in any capacity may NOT enter. Those who volunteered in the past may enter if they so choose. Those who have won prizes in the past may enter, as well.
  10. No prize substitutions. Please enter only if you want the prizes offered.
  11. We will purchase the $40 Amazon online e-gift card and send it to a valid email address, at which time the winner must confirm that they received the e-gift card. We will not be sending out physical gift cards, only email gift cards.
  12. If choosing your $40 prize through PayPal, you must provide us with an eligible PayPal email address once notified you are a winner.
  13. If the participant cannot use PayPal or Amazon, he or she will not be eligible to receive the $40 prize but can still receive the chance to help in localization and receive a Collector’s Case.
  14. Winners will be contacted via email. At that time, they will need to provide a valid mailing address if receiving a Collector’s Case.
  15. All entries, once submitted, will become the property of oprainfall. Winning entries will be displayed publicly to show off your awesome work!
  16. Contest will begin on Friday, August 30th, 2013. All entries must be submitted by Friday, September 13th, 2013, 10:00 PM PDT. Winners will be revealed on Friday, September 20th.
