Doesn’t time fly. It was only last week that everyone was gearing up for E3 2012, but in a blink of an eye, it’s over. Some may say that it was a very lacklustre year, but that hasn’t stopped us from compiling a list of what we thought were the Top 10 games of E3 2012. Like our previous Top 10’s, all games were put to a vote among the contributos, where we spent days agonising over which games to vote for. It was heartbreaking stuff, as some titles just didn’t make the grade whilst others, surprisingly, shot straight to the top of the list.

So sit yourselves down, grab a cup of tea and prepare yourselves for Operation Rainfall’s Top 10 Games of E3 2012. *cue explosive, dramatic, music*

I’m sorry, but you didn’t make it.

First things first, we have to give honourable mentions to those games that were pipped at the post. You should be proud of yourselves young ones, you did well:

  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (check out our Hands On impressions here)
  • Code of Princess (check out our Hands On impressions here)
  • Hell Yeah! (check out our Hands On impressions here)
  • Tomb Raider (sorry we don’t have a Hands On impression)

Anyway, on with the show.

10. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Top Games of E3 2012The full on action Metal Gear game storms in at our No. 10. Removing Snake and putting everyone’s favourite fairy boy, Raiden, back in the limelight takes everything you know about previous entries in the series and throws it out the window. No more stealthy, sneaky gameplay — this is an all out hack and slash, over-the-top, watermelon dicing, fun filled game. Raiden has never looked more like a badass.

Check out our hands on impressions of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance here.

9. Assassin’s Creed 3

Assassin's Creed III - Top Games of E3 2012Technically this should be Assassin’s Creed 5, but who’s counting? Yes, at No. 9 we have the all new AC game, set during the American Revolution and featuring an all new assassin bloke: Conner Kenway. Not the most intimidating of names, admittedly, but with a whole new setting and weapons to utilise we’re very excited to enter the world of Assassin’s Creed again.

Plus it’s also the first AC game to get a release on a Nintendo console, the Wii U. Isn’t that lovely?

8. South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of Truth - Top Games of E3 2012Despite South Park being an awesome and hilarious series, it hasn’t fared so well in the whole video game industry. The majority of their past games have been mediocre at best and largely forgettable. However, it looks like things could very well change with The Stick of Truth, which looks to be a hysterically funny take on the whole RPG/JRPG genre. Featuring a ton of characters from the series, including the most audacious ones, any fan of South Park should definitely keep their eye out for this one.

Undoubtedly worthy of our No 8 spot.

David Rawlings
David Rawlings, or ‘Rawky’ as we like to call him, joined the Operation Rainfall Campaign at the beginning. He’s British and found solace with us as he was able to understand our pain about Nintendo and their localizing faux pas. He’s a big fan of the letter ‘U’ and refuses to remove them from words, even though we constantly ask him to. He also believes it’s about time Princess Daisy got kidnapped.
