RUMOR: Nintendo to Announce Wii-U Launch / Price This Fall

This information comes from an investor who attended the Nintendo Share Holder Meeting that took place not too long ago: Apparently, Nintendo is set to reveal a ton of information about the Wii-U this fall, including but not limited to, the console’s price, launch date, and 2013 lineup. The original tweet from this investor suggested this information was to be revealed in September, but he later sent out a tweet suggesting a less specific time-frame.

Operation Rainfall isn’t usually inclined to report on rumors, but given the speculated November launch date, sometime during September / the fall would probably be ideal. Given the recent announcement that there are still a few more Nintendo Direct presentations to be aired throughout 2012, it seems likely that Wii-U information will be revealed in that way.

All of the Wii-U titles shown off during E3 were “launch window”. Will the rumored “2013 lineup” contain any surprises? Will Nintendo offer news of the next Smash Bros, Zelda, or even Retro’s latest game? Share your thoughts with us!

I am curious about Retro’s game.

I just got my first HDTV recently, so I am pretty excited about the Wii
U, because it will probably be my first HD capable console.
Probably won’t be much on Smash Bros. That game will take a lot of work.

  As bulletproof3DS said, it’s unlikely that much of anything will be said — let alone shown — in regards to Smash Bros., besides maybe mentioning a detail or two. It’s still far too early in development for that.
  
  By the way buddy, congratulations on your new TV. I know I was psyched when I got mine a few years ago. I am a huge supporter of gameplay before graphics, but you’ll see that it can be hard going back to non-HD after you get used to it.

  I know how you feel, i recently bought a new HDTV 5 months ago, i hope you have an HDMI cable set up aswell, you need it to see true HD quality because unfortunately like all things the VC connection does not improve the screen at all.
  
  I am excited to, i just really would like to see Nintendo take a risk on a few titles to see if they can sell them to the common gamer.My guess on price would be 350$ or maybe even 320$.

Uh… Duh? Nintendo’s already said they’ll be announcing the launch date and pricing information later this year. It isn’t exactly a rumor if they flat-out say it.

Can this even be called a rumor? I seriously thought the title was being sarcastic… Nintendo has said numerous times the Wii U will be out by the end of the year. To wait until after fall to announce the price would mean waiting until a few days before Christmas at the earliest. Of course they’ll announce the price and release date in the Fall! There’s almost no chance (literally) that they wouldn’t!
