On Sunday, Halo creators, Bungie, revealed details about their latest upcoming project, Destiny. Quoted as a ‘share world shooter’ set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, it aims to be an overly epic and ambitious experience with elements of an MMOFPS. Now while Destiny may not sound like the most original type of game, especially coming from Bungie, you can’t deny how gorgeous it looks in terms of design nor can you not be intrigued by its setting and story.

Could we be playing this on the Wii U too?

The studio’s co-founder, Jason Jones, has revealed that we will be playing the always-online first-person shooter on XBOX 360, Playstation 3, and “future-generation technology” which clearly means the XBOX 720 and the Playstation 4. But what about Wii U? Normally I would be resigned to the fact that a game like Destiny would not be hitting Nintendo’s next generation console, based on the whole relationship between Nintendo and general 3rd parties; yet some interesting evidence seems to potentially prove otherwise.

Along with the announcement of Destiny, Bungie released a mini-documentary called ‘Pathways of Darkness’, a behind the scenes if you will of the development of the game. Here’s the video in its entirety:

Now, there are three interesting parts of this video, which to any sane person would seem like ‘shots in the dark’, but just humour me for the time being.

The first two points of interest are at the 1:06 mark. A developer, or so I believe, receives a text message from Jason Jones saying: “Venus is awesome tonight! Meet u there?” To which the recipient replies: “My body is ready!” Anyone who is familiar with Nintendo E3 presentations will know that the term ‘My body is ready!’ comes from Nintendo of America’s very own Reggie Fils-Aime, and the many memes its created.

u? My body is ready? Hmm.
u? My body is ready? Hmm.

Is this just Bungie jumping on the meme bandwagon? Has ‘My body is ready!’ become its very own saying in everyday conversation? And what’s with Jason Jones use of the word ‘u’? Is he hinting at something or just a little lazy with his texting?

The third point of interest, with the video, is at the 3:37 mark where we see a bunch of developers analysing a clip of the game that’s playing on a television. Now I know what you’re thinking, so? Well, did you notice the giant Chain Chomp plushie, from Nintendo’s Super Mario universe sitting comfortably underneath the T.V? Obvious proof… *cough*

It's almost like that Chain Chomp is saying 'Wii U', no?
It’s almost like that Chain Chomp is saying ‘Wii U’, no?

Okay, so admittedly those are some very iffy pieces of evidence. However, there is one final piece of evidence, that has cropped up, which certainly makes the improbable, possible.

Some clever clogs, over at IGN, viewed the source code of the pages of Bungie’s website. Source code has never really been that interesting but deep within the depths of the ‘Where to Buy’ page, of Destiny, it clearly lists the Wii U along with all the other current gen and next generation consoles.

Even the Vita is getting in on the fun.

So what does all this mean? We can’t be 100% sure that Destiny will be released on the Wii U, but all this evidence (okay maybe just the source code) is certainly intriguing. Hopefully all will be revealed come E3 2013.

What do you think? Would you like the Wii U to receive some Bungie love? Could you care less? Let us know in the comments.
