Rozen Maiden - Anime Announcement

The Rozen Maiden franchise was already seeing a revival with the release of a new anime series by Studio Deen due out this July, but the new series won’t be the only new addition to the long line of manga, anime, and games that make up the Rozen Maiden universe.

It was revealed in a recent issue of Young Jump magazine that Japanese video game developer 5pb will be releasing a new Rozen Maiden video game sometime this fall. There isn’t much information available  about the title as of yet, but it is known that it will be an adventure game for the PlayStation 3 and Vita systems.

The new series and game will follow an already impressive lineup. The franchise began as a manga series created by Peach-Pit, which was then adapted into two anime series, an OVA, and a short animation released alongside a PlayStation 2 visual novel.

The Rozen Maiden series tells the story of Jun Sakurada, a shut-in who spends his days ordering occult products online. When he stumbles upon one product that tells him to slip his order form into his desk drawer, he follows the instructions thinking it’s all a joke. To his surprise, however, his order arrives almost immediately, and inside the package is a doll named Shinku with a life of its own. He gets drawn into helping Shinku participate in the “Alice Game,” a competition where living dolls do battle with one another.
