Pokémon Colosseum Logo

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have been out for about a week now. In the midst of my journey through Kalos, the Operation Rainfall Retro Wrap-Up Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) completely forgot about the Pokémon games for the GameCube. Yes, Generation III was the only Pokémon generation thus far to have main Pokémon console games. While they weren’t the same kind of games we were all expecting, they were pretty significant in their own right. The commercials for them (or at least one of them) were also pretty interesting. Thus, I present to you the commercials for Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness in this week’s Retro Wrap-Up.

Here are the highlights of this past week.

Charlotte Buckingham shows us one of the new monsters in Monster Hunter 4, Aruserutasu, in a new feature called Beasts of Monster Hunter.

In addition, she also chronicles Shulk’s journey through Tephra Cave to save Reyn in this week’s installment of her Xenoblade Chronicles novelization.

Hikaru Utada might make a return to the Kingdom Hearts series in time for Kingdom Hearts III. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Speaking of which, a new gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has surfaced. The trailer shows off the combat of the game, including segments where you’re attacking enemies with a boat ride and flying on a magical train.

Crystal Baltimore reviews Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsenumi for the 3DS, Josh Speer reviews Rage of the Gladiator for the 3DS and Guy Rainey reviews Sam and Max Save the World in this week’s Retro Review.

Meanwhile, Jared Cyhowski gives us his impressions on the new anime series airing this fall.

A collector’s edition for Tales of Symphonia Chronicles has been announced, with only 15,000 units in production.

Jeff Neuenschwander compares Amy Rose and Sally Acorn from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in the latest installment of Jeff’s Musings.

Justin Graham takes a look at Vampire Princess Miyu in this week’s Anime of the Past.

Finally, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for the PS3 will be coming to the West 2014.
