Retro Wrap-Up: GameCube Edition

So the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have been unleashed on the public. The next generation of gaming is truly upon us. But looking back, I noticed that the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) completely forgot about the GameCube’s launch campaign. As is traditional of 2001 commercials (seriously, what is it with this year and weird ad campaigns?), the launch commercials for the GameCube were their own brand of bizarre. Here’s a nice mashup of them for your convenience in this week’s Retro Wrap-Up.

Here are the highlights of this past week.

Nintendo of America is now offering a set of posters based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds through Club Nintendo. Meanwhile, Nintendo of Europe is offering a Mario Mega Bundle for the Wii U in the UK.

Phil Schipper reviews Colour Blind for the PC, Jeff Neuenschwander reviews AiRace Speed for the 3DS, Steve Baltimore reviews AquaPazza for the PS3 and Justin Guillou reviews The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD for the Wii U.

FUNimation has announced the release date for the DVD of Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo.

Josh Speer recaps the past week of Smash Bros. screenshots in this week’s Smashing Saturday, with Raymond Dwyer sharing his experiences playing as Samus.

Atlus announces a slew of new Persona games, including Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth for the 3DS, Persona 4: Dancing All Night for the Vita and the highly anticipated Persona 5. Get super excite!
