OnLive Coming to OUYA

The OUYA (pronounced like “booyah” without the B) has been making noise throughout the entire month of July.  News of the Android-based console began early in the month when the console was announced on July 3rd.  It went on Kickstarter.com and was fully funded within 24 hours the week afterward.  Last week, Indie Developer Renegade Kid confirmed they will release games for the console (starting with Mutant Mudds) and Robotoki – a developer created by former Call of Duty creators – announced the OUYA’s first exclusive.

Today, the people behind the OUYA have announced that OnLive will be coming to the console.  The cloud-based platform promises to bring their on demand gaming to the console and allow you to connect your games from the console to your PC, Mac, smartphone, and tablet.  And that’s not all.

From OnLive’s statement on OUYA’s Kickstarter page:

Instant demos will be available for nearly every game in our ever-growing library—from eagerly anticipated indie titles like Ravaged, to hot blockbusters like the upcoming Darksiders® II. Players can experience up to 30 minutes of each game for free before deciding what to buy. If they like it, they can continue playing where the demo left off.

You read that right.  Games like Darksiders II, the Batman Arkham series of games, Civilization V, Hitman, the early Sonic series, the Tomb Raider series, and The Witcher will be coming to the OUYA.  This is a major coup for a non-Big 3 console we have only known about for less than a month.

The OUYA is still getting funded on Kickstarter with 12 days left and having been funded nearly six times over.  Well-over 43,000 guaranteed pre-orders of the console are still available starting at $99.
