It’s been a long time since news surfaced about the anticipated PlayStation 3 title The Last Guardian. Now, it seems fans will still have to wait, as Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said in an interview (http://www NULL.gamesindustry NULL.biz/articles/2013-10-03-shuhei-yoshida-playstation-4-indies-and-the-xbox-one) that the time was just not right to reveal anything.
The Last Guardian, being developed by Team Ico and designer Fumito Ueda, was first revealed to the public back in 2009. However, since that first reveal, the game has gone through many hurdles, as one delay after the other have made many wonder if this game would ever see its promised PS3 release.
Now, as the year 2013 is coming to a close, Yoshida is not saying much about the future of Team Ico’s title. He explains, “We’re waiting for the right time to re-introduce The Last Guardian in an appropriate way.” Yoshida reaffirmed his original stance from back at E3 2013, saying, “The game is in development, and it’s well staffed, and Ueda-san is here, working – even though he’s not a Sony employee, he’s dedicated to the product. But we’re not ready to update yet.”
It is unknown just when Team Ico’s game will finally get an updated reveal, let alone an actual console release. There are already many predicting that Sony is re-developing this anticipated title for their new PlayStation 4 console, which is planned for a 2014 release in Japan. However, predictions and rumors simply can’t give us the full story, leaving us to simply wait and see just what the future may hold for The Last Guardian.
