Rayman Legends

Each week, oprainfall offers up the Nintendo Download based on what’s written in an official Press Release on Thursday morning. But, there’s a surprising amount of news missing this week!

First off, I’m going to elaborate on what the Press Release does tell us about. Ladies and gentlemen, the Rayman Legends Challenge App, detailed early on, will be made available today. It may not be the full game, but I suppose this is a way for Rayman fans to have fun on Wii U for a little while. Do keep in mind this app is going to be updated each week with new challenges until the game’s release. Ubisoft just keeps on giving, right? …Yeah.

Mega Man 4 characters

Mega Man 4 is also coming today. Yesterday, we published an editorial from the talented Josh Speer regarding this game (and how it compares to others in the franchise). Do take a look and tell us how you feel! Tons of the oprainfall Staff are fans of the blue bomber; I’ll bet there will be plenty of us downloading Mega Man 4 soon enough.

And last but not least, there are a few titles mentioned in passing. CRAZY CONSTRUCTION is coming to the 3DS eShop, Color Commando is headed to DSiWare, and SENGOKU is headed to the Wii Shop Channel’s Virtual Console.

That’s all there is to it, this week. Except…

Hey. That big Wii U update is probably/maybe/supposed to be released today. This long-awaited update will improve system stability, load times, and more… but wasn’t mentioned in the Press Release. I suppose one dedicated to it may be coming later today, in which case we’ll have more information from Nintendo that wasn’t already elaborated upon during last week’s Nintendo Direct. I’ll keep my ear to the ground.

And, of course, the day after said update hits (so…tomorrow, I’d imagine), the Wii U Virtual Console will officially launch. For those of you who haven’t heard the news, here’s a look at what we know will appear for the Wii U VC launch line-up:

Punch-Out!!
Balloon Fight
Kirby’s Adventure
Donkey Kong Jr.
Ice Climber
Excitebike
Super Mario World
F-ZERO

So, there’s that.

Fire Emblem Awakening Featured 001

The most exciting news for me this week is that the Radiant Hero SpotPass map from Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released today. This, to my understanding, is the final SpotPass map, so I hope everyone with the game enjoys it! I’m kind of sad to see the free content effectively come to an end with this map, but there’s still plenty to experience in terms of DLC (yes, the kind you pay for).

UPDATE: ATV Wild Ride Sale: Here’s something special from Jools Watsham. Seems ATV Wild Ride 3D is being offered at a reduced price! If you haven’t, check out my review of the game.

So, there’s your Nintendo Download+ for this week. As mentioned, I may update this post when something official appears regarding the Wii U update and Virtual Console. Here’s the original Press Release:
