Earlier today, Destructoid Associate Editor Jonathan Holmes sat down with Wayforward’s Austin Ivansmith for the 50th episode of Holmes’ live-stream podcast series, ‘Sup Holmes. In this episode, the two men engaged about Mr. Ivansmith’s first crack at the gaming industry, his reasons for developing games, his thoughts on the Wii U’s current market standings, and his opinions for the next upcoming systems.

Mr. Ivansmith, upon more than half-way through the show, announced that there will be a sequel for the eShop action-puzzle platformer, Mighty Switch Force. He does not say too much about the game aside from confirming that its protagonist, Patricia Wagon, will return for another adventure, and Justin “Virt” Kaughman will reprise his role as the soundtrack composer. Mr. Kaughman had recently performed Mighty Switch Force‘s music in numerous events including MAGFest, implying he has been active. The game is currently planned for a Q1 or Q2 release, though it is unknown if they are for this year or next year. Regardless, we may find out soon when we inch through the second half of Q1.

Wayforward has a knack for making sprite-based games.

In addition, Austin Ivansmith announced that the Mighty Switch Force Hyper Drive Edition for the Wii U’s eShop will be 50% off in both the US and Europe for a limited time. The director for this HD release says he felt blessed to be a part of the show, and does so to express his gratitude. Here is a trailer below:

The Wii U version is only $4.99, only a dollar less than the 3DS version. Anybody who has not played this inventive little platformer can do so now, and in HD.
