It seems that Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter cannot be stopped. With the game currently sitting at over $2,800,000 (USD), an online co-op mode has been confirmed, with a special intro stage and accompanying boss well in reach.
Also announced was a new stretch goal: Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita versions of the game. We were already aware that Jools Watsham (of Mutant Mudds fame) had offered to help port the game to the 3DS (http://www NULL.nintendolife NULL.com/news/2013/09/jools_watsham_offers_to_help_create_a_3ds_version_of_mighty_no_9), but we hadn’t heard anything else until the update. Now, if the game reaches $3.5 million, the 3DS and Vita will get their own versions of this highly anticipated game. Porting to both handhelds will be done by Hotline Miami developers Abstraction Games.
Also announced is a nifty USB stick designed to look like a Famicom or NES cartridge. This will have a Steam copy of the game on it and will only be available to PC owners. But to hardcore geeks (like me), this could be a nice little collector’s item. You’ll need to add some money to your pledge, though. See here (http://www NULL.kickstarter NULL.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/611527) for details.
With the Kickstarter funding period wrapping up in about 70 hours, the Mighty No. 9 staff has begun allowing backers to vote on which design for Call (Mighty No. 9‘s version of Roll) will be used in the final game. The choices are as follows, and you can find out more about voting here (http://www NULL.kickstarter NULL.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/611851).
