Square-Enix-640x300

Square Enix has reopened a teaser site for some kind of upcoming announcement. Or not. It’s all rather vague.

For our non-Japanese readers, Gematsu has translated the site to the following:

“As of April 1st we’ve reached our 10th anniversary! We hope you’ll continue supporting us going forward as well!

Well, last time on this site we said “we are thinking about various things.” Now, we are working on a lovely (and a tad heartwarming) site.

As soon as preparations are in order, the counter will start moving. Please wait a little longer. ROCK’N ROLL!”

Right below that is a “timer” that reads 00:46:49.

This site popped up over a month ago on April 1st. It went down sometime in the same day without anything materializing out of it. Given the timing, some have written it off as a part of an April Fool Joke, but Squaresoft did merge with Enix on April 1, 2003. It would make sense for them to capitalize on their 10-year anniversary to do something special. Was the original site intended to announce something that got delayed for internal reasons? Or is Square Enix trying to pull an April Fools prank a month and a half too late?

Karli Winata is an avid gamer with a taste for a little bit of everything. Except for sports games. And racing sims. And definitely not hidden object games! I guess everything is too broad a term. Suffice it to say that he has been known to play hours of Call of Duty multiplayer in between bouts of Persona fusing and Star Coin collecting while saving the world/galaxy through sensibly bald space marines or plucky teenagers with impossible hairstyles. Where does he find the time to write about them?
