Disgaea 4 Return 02

Many guessed that Nippon Ichi Software had a portable version of Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten in the works, so the announcement of an enhanced version for the PS Vita didn’t come at a complete surprise. However, new info released has brought some attention to the now titled Disgaea 4 Return, as we get a glimpse of the new story episode and some new content.

Just like the Vita version of Disgaea 3, titled Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention, Disgaea 4 Return will have all the DLC content that was released for the PS3 version. This includes the two story episodes, the cameo characters, and extra classes like the Celestial Host.

For the extras, we have confirmation that the new story episode is going to delve deeper into the relationship of Tyrant Valvatorez and Sister Artina. Their tragic past and the lasting promise between them was what led to the events of the game. It is unknown just what to expect, as Nippon Ichi loves to throw curve-balls, especially with Fuka and DESCO seemingly gaining the ability to traverse the boundaries of time and space.

Disgaea 4 Return 01

Another big surprise was the reveal that the ultimate rank tier spells, called Peta spells, were making a return. Peta spells were first shown on the PSP version of Disgaea 2, titled Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days. These ultimate rank spells were tremendously powerful attacks that even outclassed the Terra tier spells seen in all Disgaea titles.

Hopefully, just like the last enhanced portable Disgaea games, Nippon Ichi is only showing the tip of the iceberg on the amount of extras we are going to see. Disgaea 4 Return is slated for release on January 30, exclusively for PlayStation Vita.
