Heart Machine has announced that Hyper Light Drifter, currently funded at over $575,000 USD, has reached its Wii U stretch goal ($550,000)—or, rather, “SMASHED [it] TO DUST.” The pixel-art action-adventure RPG has only 26 hours to reach the $600,000 stretch goal for the B-side OST remix album. [It has since “completely smashed [that goal] to bits,” as well.—Ed.] They are currently in talks with Baths‘ Will Wiesenfeld, Anamanaguchi‘s Luke Silas, FTL composer Ben Prunty, Parisian‘s Ian Jones, and plenty of others for the remix album.
Heart Machine also shared some concept art. One illustration depicts the Alternate Drifter, while another depicts some awesome-looking enemy creature designs.
This artwork will be available in the Companion Art Book. Backers can acquire a digital copy by pledging $40 or more. This tier also includes the game itself, a digital soundtrack, and rewards from lower tiers. By pledging at the $109, $225, $600, or $1,400 tier, backers will receive a physical copy of the Companion Art Book. It will be available to non-backers as as a purchasable item after the Kickstarter ends.
Hyper Light Drifter is confirmed for Steam and will be available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, OUYA, and Wii U. Pledging $10 will get you the Windows, Mac OS, and Linux versions, and pledging $15 will also get you one of the console versions. This game also has a crossover with WayForward’s Shantae: Half-Genie Hero—backers who pledge $10 or more will receive the exclusive Risky Boots bonus quest.
The game’s pixel aesthetic looks absolutely gorgeous. Fans of top-down action RPGs and pixel-art games can support it while the Kickstarter lasts. You can also pre-order the game using PayPal through Humble Bundle.
