Virtual Console - Game Boy Advance Launch Lineup | oprainfall

Game Boy Advance games were confirmed for the Wii U Virtual Console way back on January 23, 2013, during that epic Nintendo Direct that featured the “X” reveal and more. After over a year of radio silence, and even after going so far as to announce Nintendo DS games for the Wii U Virtual Console, as well, Iwata finally announced that GBA games were coming in April.

Fast-forward to today, when both Japan and Europe have announced a full lineup of Game Boy Advance games coming soon. In Japan’s case, they’re all coming next week. Here’s a look:

  • Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
  • WarioWare Inc
  • Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2
  • Golden Sun

And now onto Europe, whose lineup was just revealed this morning. You can watch the trailer below.

  • Advance Wars (confirmed for April 3, 2014)
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (confirmed for April 3, 2014)
  • Metroid Fusion (confirmed for April 3, 2014)
  • Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (confirmed for April 10, 2014)
  • WarioWare Inc (confirmed for April 10, 2014)
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (confirmed for April 17, 2014)
  • Golden Sun (confirmed for April 17, 2014)
  • Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (confirmed for April 24, 2014)

The Game Boy Advance games on the Wii U Virtual Console will feature customizable controls, Miiverse communities, Restore Points and more! Again, this is not confirmed for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console…yet. Who knows what the future will bring?

There you have it. April can’t get here fast enough! We’ll offer more information as it comes, especially when Nintendo of America reveals their launch lineup. I was hoping we would all get Japan’s global treatment, but it seems like Europe has chosen to announce more games over a larger window of time.

Which games on this list are you most excited for? Be sure to let us know!
