Lock's Quest

Can we fix it?! Probably.

Lock’s Quest is a solid RTS/Tower Defense mash-up with an appealing art style, engaging game play, and an intriguing story. While developer 5th Cell has since moved on to other projects such as Scribblenauts and Hybrid, I’d love to see them revisit the concepts and game play they created here. Lock’s Quest may have ended, but I’d hate to see the series end there. After you finish the game, there’s a developer’s cave accessible through a fairly complex series of inputs (easily found online), wherein you can talk with a few of the developers for a few witty comments. More importantly, though, a few gravestones allude to the axed modes – vehicles, city building, and wi-fi. A 3DS sequel could fix the graphical/technical issues and inject some life into the repetitious elements. As it stands, though, Lock’s Quest is indeed a quest worthy of your time.

About Scott MacDonald

(Review Manager) When a call for new writers was issued at the beginning of August 2012, Scott readily answered. The Editing Team immediately took notice of his talents and brought him on board. From there, he went on to become one of many who help Oprainfall keep in contact with publishers for press assets and the like. Infamous for his Games of the Past Reviews (which he is responsible for maintaining), Scott enjoys the games he grew up with, as well as current games destined to become classics later on.
