GAME Australia is finally going to be shutting down for good. One of GAME’s administrators, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, announced yesterday that 16 stores would close that day, with all the remaining stores set to be closing down soon.
GAME has been in financial trouble for some time (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/game-australia-enters-administration/095986), even finding themselves unable to stock Diablo III (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/blizzard-step-in-to-help-stranded-game-customers/096018) when it launched. They began cutting jobs (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/first-job-losses-begin-at-game/096684) a month ago to try and save costs. A further blow was dealt to the company when they were unable to find anyone (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/no-buyer-yet-for-game/096588) willing to buy them out (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/aussie-question-delaying-gamestop-move-on-game/091962).
GAME is now going to be entering liquidation (http://www NULL.mcvpacific NULL.com/news/read/game-to-enter-liquidation/098152), and I personally am sad to be seeing them go. My sympathies go out to their employees.
