Final Fantasy IV: The After Years - oprainfall

Continuing with their focus on mobile gaming, Square Enix has announced that they will be giving Final Fantasy IV: The After Years a full 3D remake for iOS and Android devices.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy IV and began its life as a game for smartphones when initially released back in 2008, so its next iteration being for mobile devices will likely not surprise many. The title has also been available as WiiWare and as part of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection for PSP.

The game is set 17 years after the events of Final Fantasy IV and follows the adventuring descendants of its predecessor’s cast. It also uses many of the same gameplay mechanics of FFIV, along with a few new ones. One such feature is called Age of the Moon, which influences the party’s physical and magical stats depending on the lunar phase in-game. The After Years also introduced the Band ability, a combo attack that can be used only with the cooperation of multiple party members.

The title is expected to release for both iOS and Android devices this winter.
