The Xbox 360 version of Cave’s latest vertical scrolling bullet hell shooter, Dodonpachi Saidaioujou, may get a simultaneous release in both Japan and North America. Though the developer is considering partnering with Rising Star, the western publisher of their previous games Dodonpachi Resurrection and Akai Katana, Cave game development manager Makoto Asada indicated in an interview with Siliconera (http://www NULL.siliconera NULL.com/2012/09/24/cave-aims-to-release-dodonpachi-saidaioujou-simultaneously-in-japan-and-the-west/) that they are currently in talks with another unnamed publisher, as well. This publisher may be able to secure Saidaioujou a North American release date in step with the Japanese launch.
“Besides Rising Star, we are talking with another publisher we are working with another potential publisher who’s goal is to release Dodonpachi Saidaioujou for Xbox 360 on the same date in Japan and outside of Japan.”
The Japanese console release of Dodonpachi Saidioujou is scheduled for the spring of 2013. If the stars align, the same may be said of the North American release as well. But it’s still too early to definitively say one way or the other. We’ll update as more information becomes available. In the meantime, here is the trailer for the game’s previous Japan-only arcade release, courtesy of YouTube:
