Today’s Nintendo Direct had some surprises, but few were as significant to yours truly as a new Chibi-Robo title. North America did not get the house robot’s last adventure, Happy Rich Big Sweep, when it came out on the DS. But now, Chibi-Robo: Photo Finder will hit the Nintendo 3DS eShop this January, with a free demo alongside it.

In Chibi-Robo: Photo Finder, the little robot is now owned by a museum curator, simply called Mr. Curator, looking for pieces of junk that Chibi-Robo can take in order to complete his museum. Lovable sidekick Telly Vision is now apparently a cell phone, and he gives Chibi-Robo advice as he did in previous games. After Chibi-Robo collects some junk and Mr. Curator takes pictures of his museum, your museum will gain critical acclaim. Elsewhere, you can meet and help out characters around the museum…yes, including fan favorite Drake Redcrest. There will also be a series of downloadable extra missions, dubbed NostalJunk Challenges, that will be free to anyone who owns the full version.

Overall, Chibi-Robo: Photo Finder looks to be yet another cool installment in one of Nintendo’s most overlooked franchises. Chibi-Robo: Photo Finder comes out on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, along with a free demo, on January 9.

Will joined the Operation Rainfall Campaign soon after news broke of that infamous French interview about Xenoblade. Subsequently, he got actively involved and became a staff member in July/August 2011. He is currently the head of the Japanese translation team, and loves to play, discuss, debate and learn more about games. Will gravitates towards unconventional action games and RPGs, but plays pretty much anything except Madden. He is also currently attending college, honing his Japanese skills and preparing for medical school. (Coincidentally, Trauma Center is one of his favorite game series of all time.)
