BTOOOM!

BTOOOM!

Anyways, Sakamoto tries to get Taira to eat some food he just cooked up (courtesy of Date; he’s not happy about it). Unfortunately, Taira is refusing to eat. Date checks on him and deduces that Taira is dying due to the venom from the Komodo Dragon bite not allowing his hand to heal. And I’m pretty sure he’s not lying about that either. When Date finally gets Taira to eat, he has a thought along the lines of ‘Why am I giving my food to a dying man?’ I’d assume that he wouldn’t have thought that if he knew that Taira was okay.

So, in a private conversation, Himiko tells Sakamoto that she may have seen medicine at the hall they were at the previous night (the one that Miyamoto and Natsume used as a base of operations in Virtual Bride). From Himiko’s standpoint, she would ask Shiki to help them find some sort of serum or medication to give to Taira. However, Sakamoto doesn’t quite read it that way and brings Date along.

BTOOOM!

Well, this should be a fun reunion.

So Date, Himiko, and Sakamoto trek to the hall, with Himiko and Sakamoto up front talking about Date. Himiko tries to warn Sakamoto about him, using the incident involving Kinoshita last episode as her evidence. Sakamoto brushes it off, accusing Himiko of still being unable to trust anyone. However, we know that’s not true as Himiko does trust Sakamoto – she even told Shiki that she trusted Sakamoto (or wanted to) back in episode 8. But whatever – she’s leaving that conversation at that and we’re leaving this rant here, too.

So they split up at the entrance. Sakamoto will take the upstairs, Date will take the downstairs, and Himiko will search the annex. Of course, the annex is just her way of telling Sakamoto that she’ll talk to Shiki about if there is any medicine or serum to help Taira.

Anyways, Date finds the medicine room. Unfortunately, it seems like everything is expired. However, he tosses in a few things as Sakamoto shows up.

BTOOOM!

At this moment, Date admits to Sakamoto that he heard the conversation he had with Himiko. He tells Sakamoto that he needs to trust him if they want off the island together. Sakamoto agrees and even takes the case from Date. But something doesn’t feel right.

BTOOOM! BTOOOM!

I’m guessing there’s a bomb inside.

And sure enough, I was right. Himiko runs back, saying to toss the case. Date is confused as to how she would know. Sakamoto, on the other hand, is just plain confused, needing until the actual arming of the bomb for him to realize what was going on, even with Himiko constantly yelling at him to throw the case.

BTOOOM! BTOOOM!

So, what can we look forward to?

For starters, Sakamoto somehow surviving, again. First, it was the Cracker at point blank in episode 1. Then it was Miyamoto’s knife in episode 6 and 7. Last episode, it was the Detonators from Oda. Now it’s the rigged case from Date. Just how many times will they try this?

BTOOOM!

Second, how long will it take Date to realize that he didn’t kill him. In the teaser, you hear him gloat about killing Sakamoto but I’m pretty sure it didn’t happen. Maybe it will sink in when he tries to toss a Cracker for the first time.

Third, Shiki returns to help Himiko in her battle. I’d imagine that she’ll be limited in what she can do. After all, her only weapon is a scythe. However, if you remember back to Night of Sacrifice, Sakamoto was able to use one of Himiko’s gas bombs after having her activate it. So, it is possible for Shiki to use bombs, so long as Himiko activates them first.

BTOOOM!

Fourth, Kira has his bombs back. It happened near the beginning of the episode during the explosions. Sakamoto had the case he took that Kira knocked off. When he jumped back into the water, it gave Kira an opening to take his gear back. So, we have to be leery of the child psycho again.

Fifth, Kinoshita and Oda were shown at their base of operations (eating food that Oda accidentally spoiled with all the explosions). However, it seems that their partnership is rather loosely based. Will they stay together until the end (possibly leaving open an ending similar to Shiki and Date)? I’m assuming they’ll be back once more before everything is said and done.

BTOOOM! BTOOOM!

Random comment: based on his previous actions, has Oda found a way to get Kinoshita to sleep with him yet? Probably got a bit harder after calling her Hideko (wrong name) and Forehead-Woman.

Finally, what will Taira’s fate be? Obviously, he’s dying. But is there really any helpful medicine in that room – that isn’t already blown up? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
