After revealing Blazblue Alter Memory, the anime series based on the Blazblue games, at the Arc System World Fair event, developer Arc System Works presented information on the series’ voice cast and story synopsis.

Blazblue Alter Memory has a similar set-up to Blazblue Calamity Trigger as far as the synopsis tells. It is unclear at the moment if the anime adaptation will be based off the video games, but you can read the description below and make your own judgements:

The story is set in December of 2199, when the streets are full of anticipation for the end of the year and the start of the new one. Amid the celebrations, word spreads that Ragna the Bloodedge, an SS-class rebel with the highest ever bounty on his head, has appeared in the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi. The apparent aim of Ragna or the “Grim Reaper” is the destruction of the system controlling the world. To collect the bounty, a motley array of unrivaled fighters converge on Kagutsuchi.

Arc System Works’ Toshimichi Mori is handling the series’ supervision, and the animation will be produced by teamKG and Hoods Entertainment. Hideki Tachibana (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kara) will be directing the series with collaboration from Seiji Mizushima, the director of Full Metal Alchemist and Gundam 00. Deko Akao (Arakawa Under the Bridge, Mysterious Girlfriend X) will be overseeing the screenplays that are co-written by Tatsuya Takahashi (The IDOLM@STER, Phantom ~ Requiem for the Phantom). Tomoyuki Shitaya (Kiss x SissBakumanHatsukoi Limited) is both the character designer and chief-animator.
