For those of you wanting to buy Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition but not sure what platform to buy it for, don’t fret. It was revealed by Baldur’s Gate creative director Trent Oster on Twitter that the remake will be cross-platform. In other words, you and your friends can play with each other on whatever computer or tablet device that you respectively own.
From Oster’s tweet:
#bgee (https://twitter NULL.com/search/%23bgee) will have co-op multiplayer and will work across platforms. iPad can play with Android, Mac and PC. On happy gaming family:-)
This isn’t just good news for fans of this game. A remake of the sequel, Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, is in production for the same platforms and should be getting the same cross-platform treatment.
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is a remake of the original Baldur’s Gate game, as well as the expansion Tales of the Sword Coast. Both have won a number of awards with Baldur’s Gate winning Game of the Year from many publications in 1998. Overall, the entire Baldur’s Gate series is known for being high quality, winning awards ranging from Best Character or Story Progression, Best Art Design, and the aforementioned Game of the Year.
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was developed by Overhaul Games and is published by Atari. The game will release on September 18th through Beamdog for PC as well as releasing for Mac, iPad, and Android tablets. The original games were rated T for Teen. No rating was given for this version.
