The latest anime craze Attack on Titan is looking to continue its success with the 3DS game Attack on Titan: Last Wings of Humanity. Earlier this week, in Japan’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata released a new gameplay video for this new 3DS title showing us segments of the story mode and the multiplayer.
For the story mode, players are put in the role of Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and other members of the Survey Corps as they make a last stand against humanity’s ultimate enemy, the Titans. Progressing similarly to the anime’s storyline, players will only have Eren as a playable option at the beginning, but more characters will be unlocked as the game progresses. The most impressive showcase was the game’s depiction of the the story’s signature 3D maneuver gear, an iconic piece of the franchise.
Also, in the story missions, computer-controlled allies will fight alongside the player during missions. They are susceptible to being captured, which will force the player to rescue them by cutting the Titans’ arms before they are eaten. If the player does not save their comrade on time, the mission will be a failure.
For multiplayer mode, the gameplay video demonstrated how players will have the option to make, customize, and train their own avatars as they join others to battle the Titan threat online.

Though no hint of a possible localization has been announced, Spike Chunsoft will ship Attack on Titan: Last Wings of Humanity in Japan on December 5 for ¥6,090 (about $61 USD).
