Everyone can feel free to agree or disagree on how Famitsu reviews games, but one thing is undeniable: they always get some of the best info out our favorite Japanese developers.
The current issue of Famistu has interviews with several big shots from 5 big companies that you’re very familiar with: Katsura Hasino/Shigenori Soejima of Atlus, Yoshito Okamura of Gust, Hiroyuki Kobayashi of Capcom, Kay Hirono/Hideo Baba of Namco Bandai, and Keinchiro Takaki/Yoshifumi Hashimoto of Marvelous AQL.
Katusura Hasino spoke of a certain numbered series (this most likely pertains to Persona 5) saying that Shigenori Soejima has already started drawing out what’s to come with the next installment. Not only that, but Atlus has already started planning a new project. And not just any project, but a secret collaboration. What could it be?
For now, we must wait…as it’s quite early. They say and an official announcement won’t be coming anytime soon.
Hype already building for both games!
Yoshito Okamura spoke about his next game being a reflection on both Gust and Tecmo Koei (who became their parent company not too long ago). Their next game will be as he states:
“Image of a rule of right RPG”.
Interesting words. Usually interesting words mean unique games.
We will keep our eyes open for sure.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi has good news for Sengoku Basara fans: expect to hear an announcement about a future installment very soon at an upcoming event.
As a big fan of Koei games and the Sengoku Basara, I can’t wait for this! I hope to see the Sengoku Basara HD Collection make it over to the West.
Kay Hirono teases in his interview:
“Since becoming a part of the team, various things have been carried out. The time we can make an announcement about that is coming.”
Can it be something related to ImageePoch? Maybe a Toki to Towa Western release announcement? Or is it something completely new? We will see.
Hideo Baba talks a bit about Tales of Xillia 2, saying:
Tales of Xillia was a chance to change things up and it caught the eyes of those involved in the industry.”
You have all definitely heard that Tales of Xillia has been announced for Western release by now. There’s hope that the sequel may make its way over here as well, provided the first game sells well. We can’t wait!
Keinchiro Takaki speaks about the possibility of the Sengoku Basara franchise being on the Nintendo Wii U, saying he has ideas going through his head about the systems capabilities and system’s functionality. He humorously ended the interview by saying he’ll “continue to make games that make no sense”. Personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Yoshifumi Hashimoto spoke about the favorable reviews & sales of Rune Factory 4, and the news that the next installment is already in the works (Announcement). While we still don’t have an announcement for localization for Rune Factory 4, we still have high hopes for it making it over to the West.
So there you have it–tons of insightful information this time around. What announcements have you the most hyped? Be sure to discuss in the comments below!
