It’s no secret that after the 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, fans have been longing for a similar treatment for Majora’s Mask. Although there’s no way to know if this is what we can expect, it sounds as if we’ll be hearing something about Majora’s Mask fairly soon.

Recently, when speaking at New York Comic Con 2013, Eiji Aonuma, who oversaw the development of many Legend of Zelda titles, made an interesting comment. According to IGN’s Jose Otero, when a fan asked Aonuma about Majora’s Mask, “he basically said finish this game, and that may answer your question.” The game Aonuma was referring to was The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which is set for release later this year on the Nintendo 3DS.

In case you missed the recent news, A Link Between Worlds is a follow-up to A Link to the Past. A trailer debuted a few months ago at E3 2013. On top of that, a new trailer and some more information about the game was released just two days ago.

In the end, it sounds like fans have yet another reason to look forward to the upcoming 3DS title, as it may finally reveal something about the future of Majora’s Mask, considered by many to be hugely underappreciated. It’s impossible to say whether there will be a remake, a new game, or something else entirely, but regardless, it sounds like exciting news for Zelda fans.
