Kent & Sain

Kent and Sain are knights in the service of Caelin; Lyndis’ home country. Kent is the more serious of the two, why Sain is more relaxed and regards himself as something of a lady’s man. They fit the Cain and Abel archetype seen in so many Fire Emblem games. The archtype being that many fire emblem games give you two cavaliers that are usually very close friends and have differing statistical growths. Cain and Able were the names of the first of this group of characters in one of the earlier Fire Emblem games.

The two of them are opposites in every aspect of the word, they even have different growths with Kent focusing on power and Sain focusing on agility. While the two of them quite different they sort of fit together as one entity, one isn’t complete without the other. They are a great comedic foil. A knight is seen as honorable and loyal yet charming and flirtatious. Sain and Kent together makes a full knight while separate they are only half of one. In a support conversation they share together you can watch as they teach each other the aspect they lack. Kent learns to lighten up and Sain learns to be more serious. Kent: I’ll grant you, talking to women has never been my strong suit. Sain: Right, then! Shut your mouth and open your ears! Your lessons will begin with basic flattery! Sain: Why, when we get back to Caelin, we should gather all the lovely lasses we know and have one big, magnificent–Kent: Don’t start with that again, Sain. This is no time for gaiety. There is still much fighting ahead of us. Either one of us could fall in the battle to come.
