The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | Death

While we here at Operation Rainfall love covering the latest in gaming news and sharing our reviews of titles new and classic, we also just enjoy playing games in our downtime. So with that, sit back, relax, and check out what the oprainfall gaming crew have been up to this week!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | Never-ending Storm

It seems everyone’s been a little busy recently so it’s just me for this latest Week in Gaming. It was pretty much a week full of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I believe I’ve put in quite a few hours and yet I am no further in the story than before. I had hoped to get started on one of the conflicts somewhere in Hyrule, whether it be the Zora, or the Rito or whoever. I simply wanted to get started on something with main story relevance. Now, I did kind of get into that a smidgen, I helped out Tulin and was tasked with getting to the center of the storm raging on above Rito Village. But then I had a hard time getting back up there and activating the shrine. See, I had already been blindly exploring and made it up there pretty far the first time, before I helped Tulin and had an actual request to go there. But I stupidly didn’t activate the shrine right below the storm, essentially the starting point for getting to the top. I also visited the Zora and got up to having to figure out the solution to a relatively vague quest requiring shooting an arrow with a scale somewhere specific. I located the Gerudo who were hiding out and overall I did a whole lot of exploring.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | Great Fairy Tera

I’m finding that the difficulty of Tears of the Kingdom is even higher than I thought, at least that’s how it feels to me thus far. It’s continued to be a bit overwhelming that Link seems to die by one wrong hit all over Hyrule. So, rather than continue the story, I’ve simply explored more, finished some more shrines and I’ve been trying to find all the stables since it’s seemingly tied to unlocking the Great Fairies and bettering my equipment. I made a lot of good progress on that this past weekend specifically. I finally found the exact stable I needed to get started on the fairies, I went and made it up to the castle where I got better armor and some decent weapons while I was there, plus, I’ve filled out the overall map a decent amount. I’m still missing a few skills though, I was having a hard time finding Robbie in that initial chasm you’re supposed to drop into and I know at least one is tied to that. I ended up finding nothing more than enemy camps to die by rather than Robbie. Though I did explore the depths a bit in some other chasms, mainly one containing various Zora statues. I’ve also found a map which points to some treasure down there, though I have yet to reach any treasure.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | Death

I’ve been kind of starting to worry that I might not ever get through Tears of the Kingdom like I did Breath of the Wild. Perhaps it’ll be like BOTW‘s DLC which I didn’t finish. But having made a lot of progress this past weekend and finally gotten better equipment and buffed some things at a Great Fairy, I’m hoping there’s still some hope. Well, so long as I don’t get killed too many times by ridiculous enemies, such as those nightmare fuel life sucking hands. It truly feels like hell took over Hyrule. – Jenae
